It really depends on people how they use facebook. The main function of facebook is to connect with your friends but a tool van be used in many ways just like a kitchen knife which is mainly used for cooking which can also used to kill people facebook can also be used in other ways.
I Have read an article that says that facebook is a platform for ego maniacs or what we call it in our nursing terms narcissist. You may know some of this people, they are those people who have so many friends that some of these friends they don't even know. They also have the tendency to change their profile pics daily and they tend to also post pictures of themselves daily. What these people are promoting are ME ME ME, yes it is all about them they are the center of the universe.
When I realized this I look at my facebook profile and see I'm becoming them. I've seen one of my profile album that it's all about me and it makes me look narcissistic. Well don't get me wrong you might argue that facebook is meant to be You that why it's called "FACE" Book. Yes that is true but we over promote our selves because it is encouraging us to do so , there is a the need to show people the good side of our life and delete those that are embarrassing. I can see some people trying to promote that Hey look I have a better life I'm happy but when you think of it it might be some kind of a defense mechanism or a compensatory mechanism but who knows that is their life they know it better than me.
Well for me when I get back to facebook I will use it to connect to my friends via chat or PM and use it to stalk ahahaha and also use it for Trolling.
